Monument Concept

The concept of building a 9-11 memorial in the courtyard at SPMS began with suggestions from students who wanted to do something more.

Mr. Blondo, SPMS Social Studies teacher,
brought forth that suggestion to the Industrial Arts team
and soon the project was designed on paper.
Students reviewed the suggested designs for the Twin Towers and decided on including a Pentagon and a Pyramid.

Money was raised for the project by involving all at a Basketball Challenge  between the students and faculty.

The game was a tremendous success, and raised over $2,000.00 .

Ground was broken in late June 2002
and construction began shortly thereafter.
